Hi all,

I live in Canada, and I'm looking for 100 clear glass beads, 3/4"
(18-20 mm) in diameter, for an art project. I have NO IDEA where to
start looking. The marbles in local toy stores are all half-inch "cat
eyes," but I'm looking for something a bit bigger and without any bits
in the middle.

Suggestions? I've poked around on eBay, but all the "beads" there seem
to be artistic necklace material. I need something that looks quite
basic. Thanks for any ideas!

Marbles this size used to be made for glass fibre manufacture, by the
remelt process. They were usually green, but sometimes were almost
uncoloured, made for "water white" fibre.

I don't know whether anyone still makes them, but the arch-exponents
were Johns Manville.

I have fond memories of picking up clear glass "aggies" by the railroad
tracks near my house, but I never had any idea where they came from.

Oddly enough, I found a local dollar store that sells not only bags of
marbles, but bags of clear glass aggies, which are the perfect size.
Thanks for all your help, though!

www.megaglass.com has some "clearys" and clear glass orbs but not in your
sizes. Check them out if you like.
