Book Description: Bernard Ackerman: New York, 1945, 1945. Very good
condition softcover booklet. The pages, covers & bindings are all
intact and in very good shape. The dust jacket is also included but is
torn on its spine. The book contains Caricatures of Nazis with small
texts for each of the 24 drawings. 24 pages.
This is a rare item.
>From the dust jacket: Mr. Levick has given us a masterpiece of grim
irony in THIS IS THE MASTER RACE. In a bold, brilliant series of
drawings, often reminiscent of Goya, often skin to the most powerful
work by the cartoonist Szyk, yet with a style as distinct as either of
these, he has demolished the claims of the preposterous, strutting
Nazis, and left them with nothing but the empty reality.
He has made crystal clear the cruelty and avarice that have passed for
strength and racial superiority for the last decade. This is not
"beautiful art" but it is art that will live as a symbol of the clarity
with which men of good will have combatted with the incredible
brutality of our generation.
The volume contains 24 drawings in large format. The brief text
following each drawing is based on contemporary newspaper accounts.
